OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturing) means you supply the design specifications - colors, plank size, thickness, wear layer - and the factory produces flooring to your spec, packed under your brand. This is the most common path. Minimum order quantities typically start at 1x20ft container per design (roughly 2,500 sqm for SPC).
ODM (Original Design Manufacturing) goes further. The factory's R&D team develops new designs specifically for you, often with exclusive distribution rights in your territory. This is how brand owners create 'looks' no competitor can copy. SHUCHAN offers exclusive designs per market - typically requiring a 3-container commitment per design.
Design customization options include: custom wood-grain embossing plates, exclusive color formulations, unique plank dimensions (width 100-300mm, length 600-1800mm), custom click-system profiles (Unilin or Valinge patents), and pre-attached underlayment variants. Most customizations carry no extra charge above standard MOQ.
Packaging is where OEM branding really shines. We can print your brand on cartons, include your installation guides, add QR codes linking to your website, and apply your label to the back of each plank. Carton artwork requires vector files (AI or PDF) and 2 weeks of lead time for first production. There is no minimum for branded packaging - even one container qualifies.
Quality control for OEM orders is critical. SHUCHAN provides three layers: in-line QC during production (every 2 hours), pre-shipment inspection by our team (AQL 2.5), and optional third-party inspection by SGS, TUV, or Intertek at buyer's expense. We strongly recommend third-party inspection for first-time orders.
Documentation for customs and certification is part of the service. We provide: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, CO (Certificate of Origin) for tariff preference, Form A or Form E where applicable, plus test reports (CE, FloorScore, CARB P2). For your brand's compliance, we can also support ISO 9001 audits and CE marking under your brand name.
Payment terms for OEM orders are typically 30% T/T deposit with order confirmation, 70% balance against copy of bill of lading. For established customers, we offer LC at sight and 30-day open account terms backed by Sinosure credit insurance. The first order is always T/T - this is industry standard.
Lead times: 20-30 days from deposit receipt for SPC and laminate, 15-25 days for skirting and accessories. Add 7-10 days for ocean shipping from Shanghai to most global ports. Total door-to-door timeline: 5-7 weeks for most destinations. Air freight is available for urgent samples at buyer's expense.
The single most important advice: visit the factory before placing your first OEM order. A factory tour reveals production capacity, quality systems, and working conditions that no video or photo can convey.
